Your Gender
How Gender Works on enCAST #
On enCAST, actors must choose a gender for their profile: male or female.
This choice helps us show you the right casting calls. Some castings are open to everyone. Others are for male or female roles only. So we need to know which roles you usually play.
When we say male, we include:
-
male-identifying actors
-
cisgender males
-
trans males
-
non-binary actors who play male roles
- etc
When we say female, we include:
-
female-identifying actors
-
cisgender females
-
trans females
-
non-binary actors who play female roles
- etc
We are not limiting this to just cisgender people. We are simply using “male” and “female” as general categories to make things simple for casting.
Casting Directors will mark roles as:
-
open = open to all genders
-
male = for male roles
-
female = for female roles
As an actor, you are free to choose the gender you want to use on your profile. And of course, you can change it any time.
To do this:
-
Go to EDIT MY PROFILE
-
Click the BASIC INFO tab
-
Choose the gender of the roles you usually play
We will never question your choice.
This system is designed to make casting simple, but still respectful of everyone. We welcome all actors – no matter how you identify and if you have any questions or comments on this, please do get in touch.
